Parsnip Fries

Have you ever had parsnips? They’re not generally a vegetable that most people have heard of, but they’re worth trying. Parsnips are root vegetables that are related to carrots, but with a much lighter color and sweeter flavor. To me, they’re pretty mild in taste, so I like spicing them up a bit.

Of course, as with any root vegetable, I just had to make these into fries. Easy, delicious and healthy. I also think they’ll be good as home fries or hash browns…more on that later.

Also, sorry there is no meaningful story/rant/thought to go along with this recipe. Just food. Which is never a bad thing.



Parsnip Fries

Makes 4 servings


1 lb parsnips

2 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning

Sea salt and pepper to taste

1. Preheat the oven to 425.

2. Wash and cut the parsnips into thin strips (or however you like your fries).

3. Place the parsnip fries in a bowl with the oil and Old Bay seasoning and mix to coat.

4. Spread the fries out evenly on a pan covered in parchment paper, and season with sea salt and pepper to your liking.

5. Bake the fries in the oven for 12 minutes, then flip them over and bake for another 12-15 minutes.
